  * designed LZMA as an algorithm;
  * wrote an implementation known as LZMA SDK, which is part of
    the bigger 7-Zip project.

Ville Koskinen
  * wrote the first version of the gzip-like lzma command line
    utility (C++)
  * helped a lot with the documentation.

Lasse Collin
  * ported LZMA SDK to C and zlib-like API (liblzma);
  * rewrote the command line tool again to use liblzma and pthreads.
